Christina Latta
Chair, Board of Directors
Christina is responsible for the administration and finance of Duke university's Center for Health Policy & Inequalities Research (CHPIR), a part of the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI). In addition to overseeing the financial reconciliation and compliance on 30 grants and more than a dozen unrestricted funds. She began handling human resource management for the Center in 2008. She is the liaison between the CHPIR and the financial management team of DGHI, other financial departments of the University and the Medical Center, the Office of Research Support, and Sponsored Programs.
De'Aja Sanders
Vice-Chair, Board of Directors
De’Aja holds a B.S. in Zoology from N.C. State. She has spent a number of years working with high school and middle school students and has contributed to a number of project implementation, evaluation and curriculum development. In her career, as a Research Technician, De’Aja, analyzes data using statistical approaches; reports analysis findings through tables, figures, and presentations; and participate in writing reports. She is presently pursuing her Ph.D..
Michiko Brown
Treasurer, Board of Directors
Michiko is a Business Manager at Georgia State, who plays an advisory role in staff-related issues, assists with strategy development, annual planning, performance management, and internal operations. She received her BS in Business & Human Resources and brings more than 28 years’ experience from Rochester, New York while working at the University of Rochester as a Human Resources Manager and Administrator. She focuses on compliance, dedicated to education, developing deep content knowledge and expertise in administration and state and federal policy working at the institutional, state, and nonprofit levels. Michiko will use her analytical skills to generate and implement policies, procedures to support the organization’s goals and has a genuine interest in the well-being of youth and young adults, and sought an avenue to positively impact their lives.
Mary Welch
Secretary, Board of Directors
Mary’s passion for social justice and desire to help children and families has been instrumental in positively impacting their lives. She has more than 20 years’ experience and background in the medical/hospital setting. Her commitment to social responsibility and activism extends into her personal time, as well; she has served as a volunteer at local elementary schools mentoring students and parents.
Enriquetta Garcia-Mangum
Member, Board of Directors
Enriquetta graduated from North Carolina Central with a B.S. in Family & Consumer Science with a Concentration of Child Development and Family Relations. She is Certified in CAPS/Mental Retardation/ Developmental Disability, First-Aid/CPR, SIDS, CNA, and Medication Administration. Enriquetta is a Lead Teacher and has worked 19 years in the public school system helping students gain independence and laying the foundation to help build social skills needed to move forward and prepare for the outside world.
Kimmerly Patton

Kimmerly is the Annual Giving Coordinator at Public Media North Carolina (UNC-TV) and a proud double alumnus of North Carolina Central University with a BA in English and a Master’s in Public Administration respectively. Kimmerly’s background includes 15 years’ experience in the non-profit sector. Her passion is helping individuals and families advance to the next level in their lives.
